The Qal’eh Bid Mine is the only magnesite mine in the province, featuring two types of magnesite: cauliflower magnesite and vein magnesite. Vein magnesite accounts for about 30 to 35 percent of the mine’s reserves, while the cauliflower and super types make up approximately 60 to 65 percent. Given the mine’s distribution and extent, it is expected that these percentages and ratios may change with further exploratory activities.
The extraction workshop at the mine involves both cauliflower and vein activities and boasts high reserves and quality. The confirmed reserve of the magnesite mine is reported to be 200,000 tons, with an estimated reserve of 400,000 tons. However, based on ongoing operations, it is anticipated that the actual reserve may exceed 10 million tons of mineral material. An exploration permit during extraction has been obtained from the General Directorate, and exploratory activities are ongoing alongside extraction. It is expected that within the next 6 months to a year, the operating license will be revised to reflect the new reserve estimate.
